Less pesticide use
There are relatively few pesticides registered in Canada, and even fewer are used in greenhouse vegetable growing. Because our greenhouse growers use Integrated Pest Management programs, they use many different methods to control plant diseases and insect pests.
Only as a last resort do our growers use a chemical pesticide that is registered for the specific pest they must combat.
Our greenhouse environment gives our vegetable plants protection against many pests that can attack outdoor crops. Our growers’ reliance on biological controls means they are very reluctant to use chemical pesticides. They want to keep good bugs working, rather than
disrupt them with chemical pesticides.

More safe food
Independent food safety audits are performed on both crop production and packing areas in our greenhouses. These audits require our growers to develop and implement extensive food safety plans.
Our growers take special care to ensure that water storage, water purity, sanitation of harvesting tools, and the storage of food –along with many other items exceed food safety expectations.
Our staff follows strict food safety and food handling guidelines. Each greenhouse has strict policies that deal with employee hygiene andfood safety training.
